winter update
g-day all, just got back from the snz comference in wellington and thought i should do a bit of an update.Since our last update we;ve crammed in a heap of racing,we headed south to the battle of the stocks at woodford glen.We were paired up matt ngatai for the two nights of racing,we were fourth on points going into the second night of racing and were both in the top ten shootout so were looking for a good hall of points from the shootout, we both finished well but unfortunately matt cooked his engine so that was our weekend over.I managed to win the last race of the night which was a small consolation but we'll take it,i think we still finished fourth on points which is the third time I have finished fourth on points [ not cool ].Then had easter in rotorua which was a pretty quiet weekend, had a lot of fun and bent some shit.We then headed to huntly for Speedfest on the thursday night. We won the first race and placed well in the second one so were tyed with joe faram for first going into the last race, started the race well then got spun on lap two,net result, third place at speedfest, gutted but thats racin. The saturday night after speedfest we raced at auckland for the ollie brown memorial, all but got tipped over in the first race ,DNF, and the next two races were nothing to rave about ,good track and good people though so was a good night. To finish the season off we headed to palmy for the last round of the placemakers, had a couple of seconds, a sixth and a tenth which out of 36 cars aint to bad.The cars arent getting much done to them in the off season, the new one is getting the engine freshened at CSL and some steel work done and the other one just some steel work done as it only did about 10 meetings this season. The plan for next season is to lease the first car out if there is enough interest or I will race the first car and leave the new one in the shed untill the other one sells, this is a awesome car ,i'm surprised it hasn't already sold , if someones interested give me a ring its too good a car to leave sitting in the shed and i'm open to any sort of deals.

NATIONALS UPDATE
g-day all, its been a busy month with all the national titles going on, with mixed results for us.we traveled to wellington for the NI just after newyear hoping for a big weekend results wise.we qualified well in our group on the first night and came away with no damage so were lookn forward to finals night. First race out we didnt even finish one lap with steiney climbing over the bonnet on the second corner and getting a flat RF.Second race went round a spun car and got taken out by about six other cars and last race we just wanted to finish but got fed off the end of the straight by an over zealous driver, so all in all a crap weekend. Next up was the 240s in rotorua, same again we qualified well, first finals race we started off the the back and finished 6th or 7th, second race went round a spun car and the RF wheel got tagged and punchered, last race we started up the front and finished 2nd or 3rd,we finished 7th overall for the weekend. The NZs was our next big meeting at huntly with a turnout of 80 plus cars every driver was going to have to be on there game just to qualify. The track had slicked off alot by our race which suited me and the set up on the car,our results for the first night were a 2nd,4th,and a 2nd which made us top qualifer for the night but meant nothing going into the finals. The first finals race we started 23 and finished 7th,second race we started 10th and got spun in the first turn, got going again then tangled with kyle fraser and punchered a tyre which ended our title hopes, last race we finished 2nd behind graeme barr. Congratulations have to go to joe, kerry and shane for there results.I think one thing that can be taken out of all the raceing over the last six weeks is that its not big cheque books that win races anymore it now comes down to good consistant and clever driver, and thats been proven with different drivers on the podium at every championship.Although the results havent gone our way so far this year , we know we have a reliable and quick car so the results will come with time. We've just returned from the teams in palmy where got a good spanking by the mustangs and those fullas from the waikato, the team had a good weekend even if we didnt win and will no doubt be back again next year.Theres still alot of racing coming up with the GP in aucklend on the 25th then the teams nats and then off too the battle of the stocks in christchurch which is always a awesome weekend, thats enough from me for now, see you trackside.

Taranaki champs
G-day all,we have had a few meetings in the new car now and are getting a handle on the car and the the slite differences between the new and old car.The first big meeting for the new car was the naki champs,we werent really expecting anything big, as the car hadnt done many laps by this stage but we were still going to give the title a crack.First race out we finished third,2nd race we finished 5th,going into the last race there were 5 cars tied for 1st and 2nd,so the last race was going to be a big race.We started off the front in the last race and knew it was ours to lose, we hadnt fitted any mirrors in car yet so we werent sure who was behind us or who was going to take swipe at us and just went for the flag.As it happened we spent the whole race dising with callan hose who was on the same points as us going into that race and royden collingwood right behind us one point ahead so it was do or die.On the last lap callan and i were side by side but we managed to push him wide and take the win and the title.royden smashed the centre out of the right rear rim on the last lap and finished down the field, fare to say he was a bit gutted half a lap to go and it would have been his third TC title. An awesome result for us and the team but still the season is young and a lot of racing to do.The next meeting we had was boxing night at straty,we had 14 cars show which made for some good racing and its good to see the new guys in the sport are getting a handle on the tricky stratford oval and are really starting to show pace.We thought we would try changing the setup a bit and see how it affected the car, that was a bad idea we went backwards all night, so lesson learnt, stop playing with setup and drive the bloody car, anyway next meeting for us was to be the GP in auckland, the day dawned wet and cold so at eleven oclock we rang bruce robertson in ak,he told us it looked dodgy so we made the call and decided it was a long way to go to get burger and stayed home and caught up on those important jobs like mowing lawns and cutting hedges [between rain falls]. Next up is NI in wellington , weather is looking alot better for that so fingers crossed, thats it from me, see you all at wellington.
Cheers

G-day all, were well into the new season. We've done 5 or 6 mettings in the old car and have had pretty good results to date. Our first couple of meetings were in palmy, we went to the first round of the Placemakers series at palmy and placed third equal with shane mellsop, we were meant to have a runoff but thought it was hardly worth it for third. The next couple of meetings were at stratford.Car numbers have increased hugely this year with a lot of new drivers and new cars which is awesome for the class and the Stratford club.So far weve had 17 cars show at stratford with a few more still to show and they all have an S on them. The new car is all finished, dad has put in some long hours to get it finished but its all done and is looking trick. The cars first outing was at straty on the19th of november and was faultless all night which proves that if you put the hours in ,in the shed it pays on the track. The first race out we got a first and Royden finished second, the next race Royden won and we finished second and the last race we finished second and third,so all in all a good result for the new car and the part time retired driver [Royden].On the 3rd of dec we are heading to Huntly to have a skid before the NZs then back to straty for the taranaki champs on the 10th.After christmas it gets busy with all the big meetings starting with the first one at Waikaraka Park for the GP.The next couple of months are going to be busy with plenty of racing going on around the country so come along and get amongst it.We've also mounted a in car camera into the new car so when we get it sorted we will have some new footage to post up.

New season Bulletin
G-day all, we are a couple of weeks into the new season. we had a practise at stratford then headed straight to palmy for the opening meeting. The meeting got rained out after about 1/2 of the meething but we got to have a skid which was cool. The new colour scheme is awesome and we are really happy with how it came out, it certainly stands out from thr crowd. The improvements that the guys from CSL did to the enigne over the winter have turned a good engine into a great engine with huge torque gains. The new car is finshed and we are just waiting for an engine which is sitting on the dyno as i write this update. The team have big expectations for the new car and engine combo which i'm sure both will deliver, the only area that needs improvements will be the driver (ME) which will come with more experience. The standard of the cars these days is getting better and better everyyear, with so many cars being so quick you really have to be on your game. Once the new car is up and runnning Roydon Collingwood will be racing last years car. He had a skid in it last season and a practise at stratford a couple of weeks ago and is hanging out to get in the car, that was until he had a accident with a grinder and tried to cut his hand off. On the plus side we'll have a flew xtra weeks to get the new car finshed. The team plan to do all the major meetings this season including easter ar Rotoura and yearly trip to Christchurch for the battle of the stocks. We've got plenty going on this season so come along and say G-day.

Update:
G-day all, winter is upon us and with the wet weather and frosty mornings it certainly a challenge to get out into the shed. Last season car has been blasted and painted and is being reassembled with everything either being rebuilt or new before going back on. The new car is all but done with just a few more things to finish. The fuel tank and battery box need to be mounted and then we are onto the headers. The body, bonnet and wing from both cars are going in for a new coat of paint and then off to the sign writers to get the new graphics design fitted. The engines are still down at CSL in Palmy with more developement going into last years motor and new one making good progress. Brendons told us that the work he has been doing on the dyno with the engines are showing big gains on last years engine. The new season is just over the next 2 months away so we need to keep the pressue on to make sure that we get to Palmys opening night, and getting the new toy on the track.

Winter Update.
The winter rebuild is underway on the cars with the motor out and back to CSL for a freshen up and some more development done on the engine I can't wait till the next season. The motor we ran this year was something totally different from the norm, we knew it would be a gamble to try something different but we knew to go forward you have to inavative and we were confident CSL in Palmy could produce the goods and they did. Straight out of the box the eingine was awesome and didnt miss a beat all season. Theres a new graphics design for this coming season and it looks awesome and will standout from the crowd. The car will get a new set of brakes, shocks and springs for the strart and and extensive spares package done to keep the car in top shape for the next season, We're looking forward to next season so come by and say g-day to the team, we're always up for a yak.

Welcome to the new website of Summit Motorsport, home to 282s Superstock. We got into speedway 15 years ago in a old Modified which was owned by Roger Furness. We completed one season in that car and did about two meetings the following season the blew the motor up at wellington, that was the end of our experience in Modifieds. After having the rest of the season off and selling what was left of the modified we bought a superstock off Paul Gaskin. The car was a Kuriger chassis powered by a Ford 6 engine, the car had no engine when we bought it so we purchased a motor off Paul Woods in Hawera. The car itself was a car with alot of history, it had been raced by Greg Johnson and Wayne Hemi to name but a few, we completed about 3 seasons in that car then sold it too Doug Booth in Palmerston North. We had about 3 seasons off the decided we would give the sport another crack, thats when we purchased the Keith Gill built car off Brad Lucas from Palmy. The car had a CSL toyota V8 powering it which made a good strong package. We had mixed results with the car and were always just missing out on podium finishes so thought it was time to step up, that car was sold to Wayne Moss racing out so Stratford. We chose to stay with the Keith Gill chassis so ordered a new high tensile chassis of Keith which we were hoping to bring out for the start of the 10/10 season. As the season drew closer time was running out for us to finsh the new car from Keith, so we got the Kieth Gill built car off Brendon Locke and finshed that car just in time for the start off the season. We picked up the car with about 3 weeks till the first meeting and spent everyday and night getting the car finshed. It wouldnt have happen without the help from the guys on out crew, Matt, Logan and Dad. Huge hours and huge dedication but we made it to the 2nd meeting at Palmy and what a debut it was. Meeting two and three at Palmy we had two feature wins and awesome lap times, but seemed to go down hill from there. If it wasnt blowing tyres of rims it was the driver making stuip mistakes. We know the car has a heap of power and speed so the results will come. This coming season we plan to have the new car from Keith finshed in time for opening night Palmy, so it will be a busy winter with one car to strip, blast and paint and the new car to finsh off its going to be a busy times ahead but we've got the addiction so we'll make it happen. Without the awesome support of our sponsers it just would'nt happen. Graeme Barr from GT Engineering has a weath of knowledge and is a speedway freak himself so if you need something done he's the man for the job. Zodiac Signs are the crowd the keep the cars looking as good as they do, so if you want your car to look trick Cameron is the man to see. I have to thank Rebecca Barr for doing the website, as I just dont do computers, so thanks Bexs. More updates to come on the Scrappers and the coming season.
